Your role at Ausgrid

The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and operation of standard to complex solutions which meet the needs of the organisation and its customers. This includes but is not limited to an MPLS WAN, enterprise network, SDN/SD WAN overlay, cloud connectivity and complex multi-tier redundant data centres.
The role of Network Engineer is to perform required activities concerning network infrastructure and network services, which include but are not limited to:
• Designing network solutions in line with the Ausgrid telecommunications strategy.
• Implementing network solutions in accordance to existing IT operational procedures.
• Conduct testing for disaster recovery and operational readiness.
• Senior level troubleshooting, resolution and analysis of escalated faults (level 2 and level 3 or above).
• Collaborating with stakeholder to provide technical expertise of the Networking environment.
• Performing rostered after hours support and scheduled out of hours work.

What we need from you

The ideal candidate will hold degree level qualifications in Telecommunications, I.T, Computer Science or related discipline.

Essential Criteria

1. Experience of telecommunications networking in a utility/carrier /service provider environment (MPLS preferred) or transformation of complex enterprise networking environments.
2. Experience in developing and assessment of multiple solution options and end-state telecommunications architectures in alignment with strategies and standards.
3. Technical expertise in architecture, design, implementation and operation of Telecommunications systems based on technology from vendors, such as Aruba, CISCO, Alcatel-Lucent, Juniper and F5.
4. In-depth experience with industry standard protocols, designing, costing, deploying and integrating provider class MPLS networks (access and core), data centres, products and infrastructure.
5. Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
6. Strong operational experience with change and incident management in line with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and experience and understanding of DR/BCP processes, ability to execute and provide recommendations for improvement.
7. Demonstrated high degree of self-motivation, preparedness to accept responsibility, and the ability to facilitate the development of innovative solutions to problems,
8. Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with other senior and experienced engineers and architects.
9. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong customer service orientation.
