About the role

As an important member of the Asset Management team, you play a vital role in the integration, modernisation and advancement of data science techniques to enhance the strategic management of Ausgrid’s asset information, delivering increasing value to the organisation.  This includes the communication of insights that drive innovation, support strategic decision making, and maximise the use of asset data and information across the business. You will undertake research, assist in the development and production of detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for the introduction of new work methods, technology, data structures and business processes.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in data science, statistics, spatial science or a related discipline
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on asset data and information
  • Experience using computer languages and software to manipulate large datasets
  • Experience working with and creating data structures and architectures
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks etc)
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge and application of statistics, data analytics, electrical networks, and asset management related systems
  • Demonstrated ability to mine and analyse data, processes, and technology solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyse systems and processes
  • Demonstrated experience in predictive modelling and understanding of risk-based analytics
  • Research and analytical skills with the ability to assess and advise on complex and/or contentious issues, and exercise initiative and sound judgement, and develop insights from large volumes of data and information
